Yolanda Scholz Vinall

Yolanda Scholz Vinall is a multidisciplinary artist based in Naarm/Melbourne. Her practice includes painting, ceramics, installation, and video, with a strong focus on material-led exploration. She draws on themes of sustainability, memory, and connection to place. Importantly, she creates her own pigments using locally and ethically sourced materials. This hands-on process fosters a deeply tactile and respectful relationship with nature. As a result, her work captures fleeting beauty through thoughtful, sensory pieces.

At the heart of her practice lies an investigation into often-overlooked experiences, such as unpaid domestic labour and the value of slow, intentional living. By focusing on decay, site, and process, Yolanda’s work encourages quiet contemplation. Moreover, it invites viewers to reconnect with their environment in a nurturing and mindful way.

Yolanda holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) from RMIT University (2022). She has received recognition through the Reflector Magazine Award (2022) and the RMIT Vice Chancellor’s List Award (2020). Her work has been widely exhibited across Naarm/Melbourne, including recent solo shows like Backs (revisited) at 138 Gallery (2024) and Reoccurring at West End Art Space (2024).

Alongside her solo practice, Yolanda has taken part in numerous group and collaborative projects. Notable examples include Remnants at FELTspace (2025) and the Biennale of Colour and Light at West End Art Space (2024). Overall, her process-driven approach shows a strong commitment to ephemeral storytelling and intimate engagement with materials and place.
