Artist Rose Moxham hails from Moreton Bay, South East Queensland. Her highly textured oil and beeswax and sculptural oil on silk voile paintings depict the solitude and contemplative life around the mangrove with the mudflat where she lives. The various changes of light and appearance in the landscape influence the artist’s reaction and approach towards these reductive artworks. Rose Moxham’s practice has a tactile quality and her work needs to be experienced in order to feel the energy in their presence. All sides form part of the artwork, even the back reserves a little surprise.
