Applications are now open for the 2026 Biennale of Colour and Light, the sixth edition of this celebrated exhibition curated by West End Art Space Founder, Anna Prifti. Since its inception in 2016, the Biennale has remained dedicated to championing and elevating women abstract artists across Victoria, providing a significant platform for contemporary voices within the evolving language of abstraction.
The 2026 exhibition invites women artists working across all forms of abstract practice to apply — from emerging practitioners to established and widely recognised artists. The Biennale seeks to present a dynamic and diverse exhibition that reflects the breadth of contemporary abstraction today, united through an exploration of colour, light, materiality, movement, and form.
Artists are encouraged to submit works that engage with abstraction in its many expressions — lyrical, expressive, intuitive, reductive, minimalist, hard-edged, gestural, or experimental. The exhibition aims to foster an ongoing dialogue around the emotional, conceptual, and sensory possibilities of colour and light within contemporary art practice.
The Biennale of Colour and Light continues to celebrate the powerful contributions of women artists to the Abstract movement while creating space for new conversations, perspectives, and connections within the wider arts community.
Applications close on 16 August 2026 at 9:00pm.
