Anne Tweed is an Australian fine artist based in the Central Goldfields of Victoria. Anne’s drawing, printing, and painting practice comes from an ever-present urge to see and express the world around her.
Using graphite and watercolour, Anne captures the profound and radical changes unfolding in our natural world, offering a reflective and visually compelling response to the evolving landscape, sharing the love of her surroundings, and the interconnectedness of all things big and small. Creating each piece is deeply contemplative and immersive, involving a dedicated process of risk, absorption, intense concentration, and constant reflection on the composition and content.
“Urban Shadows” features a collection of intricate drawings that explore the impact of colonisation and modern technology on our delicate ecosystem. The layered landscapes entail a distrinct two-part method: first, a detailed rendering of the native bushscape is fully realised, and then geometric “urban shadows” are overlaid, creating a patina of industrial forms.
Merging these two distinct layers into a single visual plane, the pieces refflect the inherent contradictions of our contemporary world.
