Biography

Effie Mandalos is an Australian artist renowned for her evocative portraits and commitment  to arts education. A graduate of Monash University, she brings almost three decades of  experience in teaching and course coordination across various institutions, shaping the  creative paths of many emerging artists.

In 2009, Mandalos established the Rings Road Art Studio in Cheltenham, Victoria—a  vibrant space that serves as both her personal studio and a dedicated art school. Focused  on skills-based training for young artists, the studio emphasises technical excellence in  drawing and painting, helping students build strong artistic foundations .

Mandalos’s work has been showcased in exhibitions both nationally and internationally,  earning her recognition in some of Australia’s most prestigious art competitions. She has  been a finalist in renowned prizes such as the Doug Moran National Portrait Prize and The  Lester Prize, cementing her reputation within the Australian art scene. Her work has also  been featured at the National Portrait Gallery in Canberra and is currently on display at  West End Art Space as part of her Selected Works exhibition.

Through her dual roles as artist and educator, Mandalos nurtures the creative growth of  her students while continuing to evolve in her own artistic practice.
