‘Dirty Water, Clean Water’ is an allegory of Mother Earth who provides us with roots, anchors us, our humanity, our planet, and makes us One.
Marie Carmen uses a palette of colours ‘souis-bois’ (forest floor), soil, dirty water and clean water, in a technique that reminds us of the ‘arts premiers’ (primitive arts). In this allegory to Mother Earth, we are reminded of how much the power of our roots, our connection to our Mother Earth contrasts with our fragile destiny.
