In Greek mythology, Spring is the time when Proserpina leaves the underworld and returns to the earth to bring growth and new life to the fields and pastures that have lain dormant throughout the cold, dark winter months. The approach of Spring is evident when minute buds appear on dormant twigs and branches announcing the coming of warmth and abundance. They bring joy, expectation, flashes of light and colour. This artwork seeks to express that unfolding of new life, opportunity and of wellbeing to come.
