Lucy Mills is an emerging artist known for her deeply imaginative and evocative works that traverse drawing, printmaking, and poetry. A recent graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts, she creates artworks rooted in narratives she’s dreamt about, translating these subconscious stories into vivid, action-filled scenes. Her pieces often depict tense moments of climax, offering viewers a window into the dramatic and surreal worlds of her dreams.
In 2024, Lucy Mills was awarded the prestigious Bloom’s West End Art Space 12 Month Gallery Representation Prize, selected by Anna Prifti. This honor followed her outstanding contributions to the Bloom Graduate Show, where her talent stood out among a cohort of emerging artists.
Adding to her achievements, Lucy Mills completed an artist residency at Megalo Studios in Canberra earlier this year. The residency allowed her to further hone her printmaking skills, pushing the boundaries of her medium and expanding the depth of her practice.
The narratives Lucy Mills paints are rich with tension and storytelling, blending visual art and poetry to create multifaceted works that captivate and intrigue. Her ability to transform the ephemeral nature of dreams into tangible, dramatic compositions sets her apart as a unique voice in the contemporary art scene.
Now represented by West End Art Space, Mills continues to develop her practice and exhibit her innovative works. Her dream-inspired art invites audiences into a world of imagination, offering both visual and narrative depth.
